This one is a bit of an oldie, but it’s definitely a classic. Flowers in the Attic is the first in a five part series following the hardships and grim events of the Dollanganger children after the death of their father. To call this book affective is an understatement, as it was even banned for its content not long after its publication. When I first heard about these books, I was sceptical, but curious. As it turned out, this was a really enjoyable read and although I’ve yet to judge the rest of the serious, it was a pretty strong start.
